Summary: Good sound, poor everything else
Comment: I have owned this headset since Nov '07. Since then I have come to some realizations about this headset. First off, the sound is good. I does a great job as a wireless headset, and stays put while jogging.
Now the bad. To start, none of the buttons on it seem to work. I cannot even power it down, since once it is turned on, the power switch is non-functional, which means I must remove the battery to turn it off. Neither the connect, nor the volume buttons work either. This is unfortunate, because the ROKR I use has a rather pathetic volume control and without the headset working, I cannot seem to find a sweet spot. Also, the headset gets rather uncomfortable after wearing them for any length of time. And finally, I have been told I sound as though I am talking softly when I use this set for conversations.
I cannot say I can recommend this headset for anyone other than maybe joggers that want to use their phone as their mp3 player while out for a run...

Summary: Many problems
Comment: This headset seems like a good option - it is folding, comes with a transmitter, has a removable mic, supports A2DP and AVRCP bluetooth profiles, etc.

Despite all the good attributes above I have had nothing but problems with this headset. First it doesn't fold far enough to be useful but it does manage to pull hairs from the back of my neck every time I wear it. The transmitter that came with my unit was faulty and only broadcast the right channel - I also got no reply from BlueAnt's tech support. I didn't have a chance to try the mic but the stereo audio quality was lousy on all the devices I tried it with (direct pairing or transmitter).

Edit: It has now been nearly a month since I received my faulty transmitter. I still haven't received a reply from the BlueAnt tech support, but last night I received a replacement part in the mail (at my card holder's address). Testing with the new unit the audio quality is decent and I clearly hear both stereo channels. The BlueAnt unit still seems slightly inferior to the separate headphones and transmitter I bought to replace it, but the battery life and charge time are much better. If you get a working unit this is a decent Bluetooth stereo kit.

(still) I recommend getting a separate transmitter and headset. You can find either part separately with better quality and lower price.

Summary: Barely worked
Comment: I bought these and they promply broke. The Batteries are suppose to charge and be interchangeable, but it seemed one battery never worked and eventually the other one quit (less than two months) as well. The battery connection was not well thought out. I bought a set of Plantronics P500 and have been quite pleased with them. I will not buy any more Blue Ants

Summary: Very Pleased - Well designed and reliable
Comment: These are great headphones. They sound good, they are comfortable and they come with a spare battery. The package also comes with the charger, but if you forget to charge one of the batteries you can plug them in and listen to them while they are charging. Great headphones.

Summary: One or the other
Comment: This headset is advertised as being able to listen to music and standby on bluetooth at the same time and it does - sort of.
The head set sounds great when connected only to the stereo streamer, but if you connect to both the bluetooth phone (on standby) and listen to the stereo - the music quality really stinks!

Editorial Reviews:

If you have a Bluetooth phone, computer, or PDA that supports the A2DP stereo headset profile, you owe it to yourself to check out the X5 Stereo Bluetooth Headset. This lightweight, comfortable headset allows you to wirelessly stream high quality music and make voice calls, bringing your enjoyment of music, VOIP, and cell phone calls to the next level. The headset also ships with a device called the BlueAnt Audio and Voice Streamer, which connects to any MP3 player, iPod, or other audio device via a standard 3.5mm audio jack and streams stereo music directly to the headset.

In addition to music listening, the X5 lets you wirelessly communicate via your favorite VOIP program. The headset comes with a detachable microphone, as well as USB and AC charging options, making the X5 a complete mobile communications accessory for people who want wireless freedom. The compact, removable, and rechargeable battery lasts for more than 12 hours, giving you plenty of time between charges. The X5 is comfortable, too, with an ergonomic design that includes a collapsible neckband for easy portability. The headset stores Bluetooth pairing information for up to 10 different devices so it's always ready to go with all your gadgets. The X5 supports the Bluetooth 1.2 specification, and it's compatible with the handsfree, headset, A2DP, and AVRCP profiles. Before purchase, make sure your devices support these profiles to ensure compatibility.
