Summary: One Little Annoying Thing about the BlueAnt
Comment: First, I had a Jabra, then a Jawbone - neither of those worked properly and the Jawbone just wouldn't stay on my ear no matter how hard I tried! So, I get the BlueAnt X3 micro - first impressions: nice style, lightweight, easy to pair to phone, fits well and doesn't fall off of my ear. Callers report that I sound just like I am talking through the handset and they can't tell I am using a bluetooth headset. Even my voice recognition feature on my phone works better when I use the headset versus not using it - so an A+ for sound quality, comfort and fit!

Then I find out it has a slight problem. I have the Samsung Gleam as my cell phone. When a call is coming into the phone the headset rings and I push the button on the X3 to connect to the call. The call connects, but I can't hear the caller. The caller can hear me and themselves in a weird echo. If I pick up the handset I can continue with the call but not through the headset. If I place the call using the x3 everything works as it should. I finally found a way around this "bug" - when a call comes in I have to flip open the phone and answer the call by pushing the "send" button. Then the call is connected to the x3 and the conversation can go on as normal.

I contacted BlueAnt customer service after trying all the troubleshooting in the manual. They had no answer for me, other than to get a different phone! Not sure about their customer service - but I guess I can deal with this minor inconvenience for now. Would be nice if everything worked perfectly though!

Summary: Perfect
Comment: First, the function and performance of this little headset are flawless. It synchronizes quickly with any bluetooth phone. Then the sound is the same quality as if using the phone without a headset.
Both microphone and ear function without causing that deep-in-a-cave effect.

While all of the above is what I would expect from a perfect headset, this gem comes with a bonus: the ability to charge from wall outlet, USB, or car. There's no need to change batteries because you can recharge in the office, in the bedroom, or while on the road.

This is a good quality device at an attractive price.

Summary: Excellent Product
Comment: This bluetooth works great. The volume level is superior to any bluetooth I have had before. I can even use it while I am driving on the highway and hear the person very well. It fits very nicely in my ear, and I don't even have to use the earhook. I have had other bluetooths that feel like they are going to fall off my ear even with the earhook. That is not the case with the Blue Ant X3, with the earhook there is no way it can fall off.

Summary: Not good for Skype
Comment: I bought this to work with my Skype account. When everything works as it should the headset is alright, but not exceptional. When it doesn't work I miss calls, get error messages, and scramble to figure out where I should be talking, and pushing buttons like crazy trying to figure out what it takes to get to bluetooth headphone heaven. I eventually gave up and bought a Plantronics wired headset.

Adjusting the headset volume was hit or miss and impossible to do when in the middle of a conversation. I accidentally hung up a couple of times trying to increase volume. Also, the sound from the earpiece would leak into the microphone if the the earpiece was not pushed snuggly into my ear canal.

I don't get enough phone calls throughout the day to warrant wearing the thing all the time, so when a phonecall came in I would have to go through the annoying process of getting the hook fitted around my ear and the earpiece firmly planted in the canal.

The biggest problem was that it would take a few seconds to come out of sleep mode once a phone call came in. Sometimes the device would actually be off (which it did on its it own) and I would have to turn it on. But I never knew what state it was actually in. The whole process turned from a convenience into a frustraing experience. Then I would have to apologize to the caller for all my hassles.

The sound quality wasn't worht the hassle. What I was hearing was average. People on the other end of the line said I sounded fine but that I sounded like I was in a tunnel. So I would end up shouting, hoping that would minimize the tunnel effect.

The device is light, and you don't really notice it when you have it correctly installed in your ear.

If you don't like reading manuals or figuring out what all the flashing lights mean then this is definitely not for you. This is not a plug-and-play device.

My advice for casual Skype users, either get a wired headset, or a dedicated wireless VOIP/Skype handset.
